My husband has Gitelman's; early childhood diagnosed--now 55 yo. He suffers from progressive motor neuron symptoms. Doctors cannot explain etiology. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm wondering if it's long term side effects of Gitelman's or long term side effects of meds (lisinopril, spironolactone, amiloride) or a combo? Thoughts?

I don't have much experience of neurology , but only my own personal experience. I had a degenerative disc and spinal disease from the age of 17 ( wasn't really told the effects long term as well as GS) then after I had a spinal cord injury 14 months ago at thoracic level it damaged my nerves and my cord. This has effected my nerves to my legs and below and I'm a complete molete injury with no sensation. No body has ever linked this to GS but it seems the more people I speak to , the more I wonder about if a link? Nerve damage and reading many medical papers I will honk there may be a correlation. Its something to talk to researchers about.
