This is the first time I've visited any sort of forum. So pls have patience, I just need help dealing with this right now. I've always battled it alone, but as I get older I'm finding it more difficult. I was diagnosed with GS at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota in 1991. Since then I been in and out of hospitals several times with low potassium and magnesium. I get my IV but after a few days the symptoms return. My symptoms don't seem the norm. I usually can recognize when I'm going to crash. I usually have a day of excessive urination. Then my symptoms start which include fatigue, irritability, nausea, anxiety, depression and depersonalization. This past episode snuck up on me three weeks ago. I was under a lot of stress wasn't eating properly, got run down, began vomiting and when I finally was admitted into the hospital after three trips to emergency over a week my potassium was 2.1. And I had lost 25lbs. I spent five days in the hospital not eating for four of those. The thought of food made me physically sick. I started feeling better for a few days but then the loss of appetite started, the anxiety and now the depression. Does anyone else with GS suffer from unexplained anxiety and depression? That's the two symptoms I have the most trouble with as it affects my family the most. Thank you for this avenue to seek support. Greg

I’ve noticed that I have tremendous anxiety and depression. Scary thing is that nothing really seems to be the cause. I️ was diagnosed in 2012. This is my first chat. I️m so happy I stumbled upon this forum.

Suffering with depression and anxiety when living with chronic illness and health issues can obviously cause mental health issues with it. The struggle facing every day battles and worries of the future and health crisis can be very difficult to deal with. Very few people talk or discuss the massive implications of life threatening illness. I think more research should be done on this subject. Maybe a next blog title ?

More potassium helps me a lot with depression and anxiety/panic. I don't feel well under 4.5
